THE ORIGIN STORY

Changing the world one founder at a time.

No one understands this mindset better than our Founder, Paige Craig, whose uniquely pioneered path to a world-class investor began on the other side of the pitch deck.

After serving in the Marine Corps, Paige combined his natural entrepreneurial instinct with his passion for national security and bootstrapped a private military company.

Starting with a solo drive into Iraq with $10k, he scaled his business to over $300M in revenue in four years, with programs across the Middle East, Africa, and Southeast Asia.

15 years and 150+ investments later, Paige drives returns in the top 5% of VCs worldwide.

"Successful founders embody the vision, intelligence, character, and execution of the hero archetype. In life's defining moments, they are hard-wired to persevere and achieve the impossible. These outlandish founders are who we bet on."

- Paige Craig on the Outlander Founder Framework

Deepika is passionate about connecting with founders at the earliest stages — learning about what makes someone uniquely them and how that fuels their vision is the most energizing part of her job. Prior to joining Outlander, Deepika worked at Blu Ventures where she was responsible for driving early-stage investments in B2B SaaS and HealthTech. Deepika spent her early career helping underrepresented founders access capital — reworking pitch decks, developing financial models, and making introductions to an extensive network of investors. Deepika holds an undergraduate degree from Georgetown University’s Walsh School of Foreign Service, where she supported student-led startups with GTM strategy through the Georgetown Ventures accelerator and served as the Senior News Editor for The Hoya.

Jeremy Johnson is a serial entrepreneur and investor whose career has been shaped by a consistent theme: unlocking human potential. He co-founded 2U, which helped leading universities including Harvard, Yale, Berkeley, and UNC bring world-class education online, and served as CTO, then CMO, then CSO through the company’s 2014 IPO. He later co-founded Andela on the premise that brilliance is evenly distributed, but opportunity is not. At Andela, Jeremy helped build one of the earliest global talent marketplaces, connecting companies with exceptional technologists and helping catalyze the growth of tech ecosystems across six continents. Andela became a widely recognized leader in the shift to remote work and a trusted partner to enterprise engineering organizations. Across 2U and Andela, Jeremy helped raise more than $500 million and built at the intersection of technology, education, talent, and access. That same through line is what draws him to Outlander. He is deeply aligned with the firm’s focus on identifying extraordinary founders early and actively helping them scale into consequential company builders. Jeremy brings an operator’s lens shaped by the full startup journey - vision, product, fundraising, team building, and scale - along with a strong belief that the best investing is not just about picking winners, but about recognizing exceptional people and helping them reach their full potential.

Kevin Morris Operating Partner, Head of Venture Ecosystem Development Kevin is a business development and strategic growth executive with more than 20 years of experience operating at the intersection of venture capital, startups, technology, and professional services. His career has been defined by building relationships and creating connective tissue across ecosystems. At Goldman Sachs, Kevin spent a decade in TMT investment banking and helped establish the firm’s Venture Capital Coverage Group, focusing on developing relationships with venture firms, portfolio companies, founders, and technology executives. This experience led him to move in-house as Tusk Ventures' first Director of Business Development, where he helped build the firm's formal equity-for-services model to work with disruptive early-stage startups building in highly regulated industries. Most recently, Kevin served as Director of Business Development at Cooley, one of the preeminent global law firms for startups, VCs, and IPOs. Across these experiences, a consistent theme has been Kevin’s ability to connect people, companies, capital, and opportunities that might otherwise remain disconnected. He is particularly interested in understanding how ecosystem participants - investors, founders, banks, law firms, universities, etc - interact and then building the strategies, relationships, and infrastructure that make those networks more valuable. Kevin combines leadership, executive presence, and business acumen with the perspectives of an investment banker, the entrepreneurial instincts of a startup advisor, and the organizational discipline of a senior business-development strategist to connect dots and facilitate win-win outcomes. "I’ve never been particularly interested in simply just having a job. I’m much more interested in being part of something I believe is going somewhere—and helping it get there."
